If you're a fan of comic books or Webtoons and have always wanted to create your own, this camp is a great place to start!  Bring an idea for characters and story and we'll discuss how to outline a large comic project, create a character design sheet, and learn how to write a comic script and plan page layouts for different print and web formats.  All work will be done on the computer using Photoshop and Illustrator.

JCAC art camps introduce children to a wide range of art making techniques and mediums, from watercolors, to acrylic painting, to polymer clay, drawing and so much more! You can rest assured your child is in a supervised, creative environment making art and new friends.

Learn how to create fun, decorative, and functional clay projects!  Students will explore fundamental clay skills like pinch, coil, and slab to build their own ceramic creations.  They will then learn glazing and surface decorating techniques to finish off their one-of-a-kind creations!

Week 9: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Art Camp Grades 6th-8th Johns Creek Arts Center Location July 20-24

The arts center cares about your health and safety, therefore all campers are required to wear facial masks or shields. Push your concepts and designs to develop dynamic illustrations based on sci-fi and/or fantasy genres. With sci-fi and fantasy genres, add elements of storytelling to your illustrations. Students brainstorm these concepts through research, then develop powerful compositions that bring your imagined worlds to life. Students learn to use knowledge of the color wheel to add bold and vibrant colors to their illustrations. Gathering reference, as well as shooting reference is discussed. Learn to incorporate reference into compositions with imagined sci-fi/ fantasy elements. From brainstorming an interesting concept with storytelling elements to generating thumbnails and sketches, the students create a powerful illustration.

Week 9: Teen Clay Wheel Grades 7th-12th Johns Creek Arts Center Location July 20-24

Instructor:
The arts center cares about your health and safety, therefore all campers are required to wear facial masks or shields. Learn how to throw on the wheel to make fun and functional ceramic pieces!  Teens will learn the techniques needed to create ceramic dishware as well as handbuilt clay sculptures.  The pieces will be fired in a kiln and then students will learn different glazing and painting techniques to create truly unique ceramics.
