High Honors: Arts Competition for Middle and High School Students
The Johns Creek Arts Center is accepting submissions for High Honors, an art competition and exhibition open to middle and high school students in Fulton, Forsyth and Gwinnett counties. This annual competition is now in its fifth year. The dates for the exhibition are June 30th through July 21st 2023. All student artists are permitted to enter up to three works. Each submitting artist will have at least one work accepted for exhibition. High Honors is a judged competition. Cash awards, ribbons, Johns Creek Art Center Scholarships and other prizes will be awarded. Middle school and High school students are judged separately.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
-Each artist is allowed to submit up to 3 images of original works. Send all submissions via email to the curator Althea Foster at afoster@johnscreekarts.org with High Honors in the subject line
-Acceptable media include painting, digital art, ceramics, mixed media, fiber art, photography, and jewelry. To check on the suitability of a particular media contact the curator at afoster@johnscreekarts.org
-All entry files must be named with artist’s last name, first name, followed by the title (for example: Smith Sally Portrait of Fluffy.jpg)
-Work should be submitted in high quality .jpeg /.jpg/.png files. Image size should be a minimum of 1000px high by 1000px wide, and a maximum of 2560 px in either direction.
-The accompanying submission email must include:
-Name, Address, Email, Phone Number, School and Grade
-Title, medium, size, and price for each work entered.
-Works may be for sale or not for sale (NFS). Artists receive 75% of the selling price of work sold during the exhibition. JCAC retains 25%.
-Works must be ready to hang with either a sawtooth hanger or wire. JCAC reserves the right to reject works not properly presented.
-For safety reasons works must be framed with either plexiglass or acrylic rather than glass.

Local Color: Works by Area Artists
The Johns Creek Arts Center (JCAC) wants to show off the talented artists in our own back yard! We are inviting you to be a part of an exciting upcoming exhibition showcasing works by artist’s groups in the North Metro Atlanta area. Members of the Alpha Arts Guild, Cumming Art Guild, Norcross Art Guild, the JCAC Art Guild, and the Suwanee Art Guild are invited to submit work to Local Color: Works by Area Artists.
This is an open exhibition, meaning all members in good standing of these organizations are invited to submit work for exhibition. Works will be accepted on a space available basis in the order received so please plan to enter early. We are a small gallery we are able to exhibit approximately 40 average sized pieces of art.
Exhibition dates are May 19th through June 16th. Works will be exhibited at the Johns Creek Arts Center and may be viewed Monday through Saturday from 10-2.
Closing reception and award presentation on June 16th from 6-730 pm.
Instructions for Participation
-The submission period for this exhibit begins April 10 and closes May 10th or when all available gallery space has been filled, which every comes first.
-Artists will be notified of acceptance by May 13th.
-This exhibition is open to adult members in good standing of the aforementioned organizations.
-Each participant may enter one work.
-Submissions must not have been exhibited at the [JCAC] arts center within the last two years. There are first, second, and third place ribbons and cash awards as well as a People’s Choice Award determined by popular vote.
-Eligible media includes mixed media, ceramics, drawing, fiber, printmaking, painting, photography, and sculpture. Please contact the curator with questions as to whether a particular medium is acceptable.
-Submissions may be no larger than 42 inches (framed or installed) in any direction. All 2-D work must be ready to hang with either a hanging wire (preferred) or sawtooth. Work may not exceed a maximum weight of 25 lbs.
-All works larger than 12×16 inches must be framed with plexiglass or acrylic rather than glass for safety reasons.
-Work should be submitted in high quality .jpeg /.jpg/.png files. Image size should be a minimum of 1000px high by 1000px wide, and a maximum of 2560 px in either direction.
-Entries must be submitted through email to afoster@johnscreekarts.org.
-Submissions must include the artist’s name, email address, phone number, title of the work, medium, size, and price or designation that the work is not for sale. If the work is not for sale, please ascribe a value for insurance purposes.
-Artists are responsible for transportation and delivery of work to and from the Johns Creek Arts Center during the designated drop off dates (TBD). All work must be professionally presented and delivered to the Center ready to hang.
Sales
Artists may use the exhibition as a venue for selling their work. work. If a work is sold during the exhibition, the artist retains 75% of the selling price. 25% will be retained by the JCAC. Artists may also exhibit their works with an “NFS” (not for sale) designation.
