Since she could hold a pencil, Julia would draw at every opportunity, earning the nickname Doodley from her parents. She lived in the Kansas City area, where she took art classes at school, at the Nelson Atkins museum, and at the Kansas City Art Institute.  Many talented and passionate teachers honed her love of art in traditional and digital media, inspiring her to earn her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. The MFA program at SCAD brought her to Atlanta in 2008, where she has lived ever since.

Since becoming part of the Johns Creek Art Center community of instructors, Julia has brought both traditional and experimental techniques to enrich her students’ work. She focuses on projects that will foster each student’s unique perspective and cultivate their creativity.
