I was born on the west coast in Oregon and I have been all around the world since then. My father works for the CDC so in the early nineties we moved to Kenya where I started high school. I lived in Kenya for five years before I went back to the states to start college. I earned my bachelor of fine arts at Columbus State University in 2004. My parents moved to Indonesia in 2007 because my father volunteered to help out with malaria control there. In 2008 I went back to school to study illustration and I obtained my Master’s from the Savannah College of Art and Design in early 2012.
I’ve always been interested in art and drawing since as far back as I can remember. I absolutely love comics and sci-fi/fantasy art. I admire many different artists such as J.C. Leyendecker, Frank Frazetta and Alphonse Mucha to name a few. I have always enjoyed drawing but in the recent years, I have discovered a love for painting. Painting with acrylics and watercolors and now what I truly enjoy the most. I have worked on several freelance illustration projects including a children’s book. I’ve also participated in many art shows through the years, Dragon Con being my favorite show. Although I have a love for sci-fi/ fantasy art, I also love painting wildlife, landscapes and portraits. Birds have become one of my favorite subjects to paint. I enjoy helping students develop their skills as visual artists, as well as continuing my own journey as an illustrator.
