This 8 week class is for beginners entering into silk painting for the first time, as well as experienced silk
painters who would like to refine their skills. Students will be using various soy wax layering and other
techniques to create works of art on scarves and wall hangings.
We will discuss how design lay outs can be planned and then traced onto the silk stretched
and suspended on a frame. Bold black and white line work, floral, and assorted motif reference
templates are available to trace directly for those who feel they have limited drawing skills.
Freehand drawing of designs is also encouraged.
We explore color theory and harmony with the use of transparent color to help create
dimensional vibrant works applying professional steam fix dyes.
Student should bring paper towels, disposable gloves and wear protective aprons or smocks.
Supply Fee of $30.00 is payed directly to the Instructor. This includes one 22” x 22” square scarf, the dyes, applicators, brushes, frames, and other supplies needed.
Please note: Class will NOT meet April 5, 2022 during Spring Break week.
