Be outdoors, complete your study within a few hours, create a composition and enjoy the camaraderie of other painters along the banks of the Chattahoochee River with regionally recognized plein air artist Christopher Sherry.
With the atmosphere constantly changing, the artist must work fast and deliberately. The speed of the work enhances the artist's ability when painting in a more controlled environment when there is more time. Typically the painting created on sight is used as a study to aid the completion of a larger painting in the studio. The day starts with a demo and how to set up to paint your own painting. Painters then find a scene they would like to record. The instructor gives each indiviual advice as they paint. With a goal of using a three color palette, (you may use your own palette), see how to create atmospheric perspective and how to paint with correct perspective.
This workshop includes a demo with one-on-one and group critiques. It is open to all levels of artists and various mediums.
Drink plenty of fluids. The Johns Creek Arts Center will provide fruit infused water. Restrooms are available. ???A suggested plein air supply list and materials list will be available upon registration. Bring your own easel.
