For Intermediate and advanced painters who would like to work on their own paintings in the studio with the camaraderie of other artists and the input of an instructor. You can use oil or acrylic and paint the subject matter of your choosing. The instructor will do a quick demo at the beginning of the class to reinforce painting techniques. Jill paints landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, and will help students take their work to the next level no matter the subject.
Paint- acrylics, oils, or water mixable oils. I use Cobra or Winsor & Newton Artisan water mixable oils, but you can use whatever you have.
Cadmium yellow hue, Yellow Ochre, Naples Yellow, Cadmium Red hue, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Pthalo Blue, Ivory Black, Titanium White. We'll be mixing greens, oranges, and purples, but I also have Cadmium orange hue. I rarely use tube colors of greens or purple, but do have Olive green and Chromium oxide green. I buy the Cadmium hues because they don't contain cadmium, a heavy metal, and are therefore safer.
Container for water or Gamsol, if you use oils (No mineral spirits, please, as the odor is too strong for classroom use)
Canvases- your choice
Brushes- an assortment of brushes from 1' flats to smaller brushes for fine detail
Palette- I prefer a glass palette, but disposable is fine
Palette knife- I prefer a thin, flexible, metal blade that comes to a point
