The human form is a constantly evolving subject and one that has fascinated artists throughout art history. Changing form in different lighting and with each muscle movement, the figure is an object of continuous alteration. This course will begin with gesture drawing to capture the essential movement and moment of the figure. A gesture is then used as an expressive foundation for an anatomically sound drawing. Students will investigate various drawing media throughout the course (graphite, charcoal, ink, eraser) in order to explore different methods of mark-making and expression. The course will be supplemented with demonstrations (for beginners) and general anatomy instruction. Please email the instructor with any questions about the course at firstname.lastname@example.org.
