Bring your ideas to life from concept to completion in a relaxed and supportive setting. This class emphasizes proper planning prior to putting brush to canvas. Students will learn about the importance of composition and thumbnail sketches, strong photo references, quick color studies, and preliminary drawings to act as a framework for a painting. Students will find that a little extra effort in the planning stages will make for more successful paintings and a more enjoyable painting experience. In addition, we will focus on color mixing, brushwork, and various painting techniques. Students will work on anything they wish in their own style, and at their own pace, while enjoying one on one instruction and demonstrations.
Supplies will be discussed on the first day of class. Students should come with a sketchbook and some ideas, as well as any materials they may already have.
